Overall, we have a fairly big negative impact on Mother Nature.

But we have done some good things like saving the Bald Eagles(national bird of the United States) from extinction. Oh boy that would be awful, if these were knocked out of the ecosystem. They act as a predator and a scavenger and their diet include rabbits, racoons, beavers, deer fawns, but their main diet is basically fish like trouts or salmon. If they overpopulate, the quantity of producers will shrink and they will die from starvation.

I kind of wished I knew how to shrink the picture, but maybe I'll learn it sooner or later.

Fish is great for your heart, because it contains omega-3 fatty acids which improves your blood flow in your ciculatory system.

Plus, it beneficial for your brain. However, you have to be cautious on how many times you have eaten a fish per week. Nutritionists recommends that you should eat at least two-three fishes a week. However they also warn on which fishes you should look out for, because some contain high levels of mercury since they are high on the food chain like swordfishes or sharks. They used to barely have any mercury, but because of modern factories, we can no longer eat them at a steady rate without facing health risks. These health risks relate to the disease called the Minamata Disease. These symptoms include but not limited to loss of hearing/seeing, the weakened muscles and nervous system and in some serious cases paralysis, coma, and death could happen if not treated.

I also would like to point out that Japan fish industry is huge and they take out lots of fishes out from the seas and oceans. If they continue at this rate, all the fishes will be gone by around 2040. Then the Japanese will lose one of their main sources of protein.

This picture was taken around 5 in the morning, for your information.

We're obviously not the only ones creating enrichment toys ...

zoos do it to. Enrichment toys allow animals to show their natural behavior, adds variety to both the animal's life and the exhibit, makes them exercise, and enhances the character of the creature. They can do a really good job trying to stimulate the creature's mind. For example, instead of just giving a Giant Panda a whole apple right in front of him. How about we put it in a box and let the Giant Panda find the face that is open by using his sense of smell? Or maybe perhaps we should give him a fruitsicle. A frozen treat, where it consists of frozen fruit juice and H20, where he has to slurp the fruitsicle to consume it just like we do.

In addition, these enrichment toys can last a pretty long time as long as they are built by reliable material like heavy-duty plastic, rubber, or bamboo. These things can come in many shapes and sizes like ropes, barrels, toy balls, and much more. So don't just let your dog sit there watching television and turn into a couch potato! Make him/her active by giving him a tennis ball to chew on, take a walk, or launch a frisbee and watch your dog run free as a bird.

In prehistoric times, mother nature was in control of planet Earth, but now ...

we earthlings can simply decide the fate of the earth at our own will. Of course, we're not THAT stupid but still, it's something to be aware of. Animals, particularly the specialist species like giant pandas or koala bears, are very vulnerable if a disaster was to struck. If their food resources are gone, they would simply extinct in a short matter of time. That's why we need to control how many births we're having and how rapidly are we expanding our human society. In my opinion, they have rights just like we do. After all, they claim this piece of land long ago before we did. It's just that the human beings had much more power than the animals in terms of weapons. Of course not all human beings had this perspective, the Indians valued their environment. Most Indians believed that we are small compared to mother earth and we should respect and disturb it as little as possible. However, the colonists think otherwise; the only thing that probably mattered to them is their own prosperity and power. Thankfully, we tweaked that view by putting laws to save endangered animals and creating and preserving wild parks like Yellowstone Park in Colorado.

This is the only planet we can inhibit, I'm afraid ...

The goal in our community service is to provide enrichment toys and a place for the dogs and cats to rest on.

These enrichment toys such as dog ropes allow the cats/dogs to have fun while stimulating their mind along with providing physical activity. Dog ropes wasn't the only pet toy in the house, we also made pillows, balls that were attached to a string, and caterpillars. Before we did that though, we waited for most of the people to come here, we introduced ourselves (I saw a couple Acalanes students there, by the way.) and the kind of pets we have, and then we got to know the birth of ARF. After that, we all made dog ropes out of fabric by tying it like the braids you see on some girls. We also turned on some animal related music and that was fine with me. Oh and we had a tour around ARF and showed us some of the stuff inside the facility like pet kitchens that contain peanut butter and cat/dog treats and there was also a building where there were people who trained their content dogs for the contests. So around noon we stopped what we were doing and had a lunch break. I should have brought my own lunch instead of cash, which I hardly ever do nowadays. Because their main focus is on saving cats and dogs; not providing food service. What was I thinking? -_-

Once the lunch break is over, we head back and I believed we are now making pillows which is also composed of fabric with soft white stuffings. This pillow took like 2-3 hours to finish, because one I tend to be on he slow side and two is that I had to make many adjustments to make sure the stuffings don't escape from the inside of the pillow. After the pillow was completed, I went into an office where she would sign off the community service forms. So in the end, thanks to everyone who donated the fabric and helped with building a better home for the pets in ARF and I'll see you next time. All right, see you later.

Even though I'm not a big football fan, this Super Bowl has surpassed ...

"M-A-S-H" for being the most watched TV show of all time. More than 106 million people watched it. True, there are more people right now compared to the year of 1983, but it's still an accomplishment for the TV show and the victory of the New Orleans Saints with the final score of 31-17.

Doesn't his son look all jolly or what? :D

The Youtube community was given a period of time to submit their questions and videos ...

so Barack Obama might respond to them. Depends on how popular the video/question is. It's an exclusive Youtube interview with President Obama relating to the issues in America.

Yeah, it's a fairly long video, but I watch most of it and it was cool. :)

On early Febuary, giant squids invaded the coast of California.

Hundreds of giants squids are swimming near the surface of the water not so long ago. So the fishermen decided that this is the opputunity for them to reel in some real cash(i.e. the poor squids that got nabbed by the angerlers). More than 400 squids were caught and some weigh between 20 to 60 pounds. The record was from last September where someone reeled in a 103 lb. jumbo(it was the nickname for this huge 19 1/2-foot long squid).

P.S. They're not really giant squids, because if they were; they would have died going near to the surface of the water.
